MAGGIE PRICE

Maggie Price is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, the Pastel Society of New Mexico (Distinguished Pastelist), Plein Air Painters New Mexico, and a member of the Salmagundi Club of New York, the IAPS Master Circle, the Pastel Society of the West Coast and the Great Lakes Pastel Society. She is the President of the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS) and serves on its Board of Directors. She was a co-founder and former editor of The Pastel Journal, a national magazine for pastel artists, and has written over a hundred articles about pastel art and artists. She is the author of Painting with Pastel (2007) and Painting Sunlight & Shadow with Pastel (2011), and two instructional DVDs (click here for more information about books and DVDs).

Maggie emphasizes personal instruction in a supportive and friendly atmosphere during her workshops. Discussion of the subject during daily demonstrations, along with personal assistance at each artist's easel, gives her an opportunity to share information gained from years of experience painting in pastel, as well as that gathered through writing about art and artists. Her husband, artist Bill Canright, gives occasional demonstrations on specific techniques or subjects, and assists artists as needed and generally helps make the workshops run smoothly.

Contact Maggie regarding scheduling a workshop in your area.

BILL CANRIGHT

Bill Canright has been painting in pastels since 2003. His work has been accepted and received special recognition in over 20 national juried pastel exhibitions. He has produced notable landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes. Always open to challenges, he has also painted divers subjects such as trucks, cars and animals.

Bill is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America and the Pastel Society of New Mexico, a member of the International Association of Pastel Societies' Master Circle, and a member of the Pastel Society of the West Coast, Southeastern Pastel Society and Northwest Pastel Society.

He began his art career as a self-taught oil painter at age fourteen. He continued working in oils, pen and ink and pastels into his early twenties. By the time he was ready for art school, the focus was on non-representational art, which did not interest him. He turned to a career in product illustration, and then to art direction and creative design and writing in advertising.

Now, as a full-time artist, he concentrates on painting in the studio he shares with his wife, Maggie Price, in New Mexico, and traveling to teach workshops and enjoy painting around the world. For more information, please see his web site.
