Maggie Price's book, Painting with Pastels: Easy Techniques to Master the Medium, was released by North Light Books in May 2007. The book covers everything a beginner needs to know to get started working in pastels, from types of surfaces and pastels to techniques for applying pastel.
In addition to step-by-step demonstrations of landscape painting by the author, nine contributing artists (Deborah Christensen Secor, Greg Biolchini, Richard McKinley, Bill Hosner, Sam Goodsell, Desmond O'Hagan, Deborah Bays, Tom DeCleene and Ruth Summer) demonstrate painting still life, portraits of children, and animals, as well as landscapes, in their own unique styles. While the book is geared to the beginner, it offers a wealth of information valuable to the intermediate and developing pastel artist.
AVAILABLE HERE, on Amazon.com, at www.northlightbooks.com and at retail bookstores.

Maggie Price is the editor of My Friends, Today's Great Masters: Volume Two of the Jack Richeson Fine Art Series. Publisher Jack Richeson has long been concerned about the lack of recognition for today's great masters, and in this collection of works he acknowledges current artists who can be called masters.
Selected from among the numerous artists Jack has come to know through many years working in the art materials industry, these artists represent some of the greats in the present-day world of art. While the work of some of these artists may be familiar, a number of lesser-known great masters are also honored in these pages. The book retails for $49.95 plus $4.95 shipping and handling. For more information, see www.richesonart.com; phone orders 800-233-2404, fax 800-233-2545.

Maggie Price is the editor of Confessions of a Brush Peddler, an autobiography by Jack Richeson. From his humble beginnings on the streets of Chicago to positions of power and influence, Jack Richeson chronicles his own growing-up years along with the growth of an industry. It's a history of a way of life that's vanished--of changes that eliminated entire professions, illustrators, graphic artists, layout specialists and typographers. And it's a fascinating account of the gritty streets of Chicago and a tough little Irish kid who fought his way out of the slums and up the corporate ladder. Anyone who was even peripherally involved in commercial, graphic or fine arts in the last fifty years will find this an interesting record; anyone who just likes a good story about the battles and triumphs of life will enjoy it as well. The book retails for $29.95 plus $4.95 shipping and handling. For more information, see www.richesonart.com; phone orders 800-233-2404, fax 800-233-2545.
